• Ice Skating
  One of Spokane's most popular wintertime activities, there are ample opportunities for ice skating around town. However, the most unique and popular is the Numerica Skate Ribbon. This isn't your standard oval-shaped skating rink -- it's a long path with twists and turns. The outdoor path is 650' long and 19' wide. If you prefer indoor skating, Eagles Ice Arena is a great option as well.
  
  
• Skiing And Snowboarding
  Spokane is surrounded by five great ski resorts, so it's easy to see why skiing and snowboarding are such popular winter pastimes around here. 
  • Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park - Located just 31 miles north of downtown, Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park has 52 runs, 7 lifts, and a terrain park.
  • Lookout Pass Ski And Recreation Area - 35 runs and 4 lifts highlight this fun ski destination located about 2 hours east of Spokane.
  • Silver Mountain Resort - This Idaho ski resort has five lifts plus a gondola that takes skiers up the mountain. The 6,300-foot mountain has 73 runs and is just a little over an hour east of Spokane.
  • Schweitzer Ski Resort - About 3,000 acres of well-maintained ski terrain can be found at this Idaho ski resort, just about 90 minutes from Spokane. It features 92 runs.
  • 49 Degrees North Mountain - This resort features more than 80 runs and has plenty of beginner trails, making it ideal for new skiers.
    
    
• Cross-Country Skiing
  Cross-country skiing is also an awesome winter activity and a good way to get in some exercise. Riverside State Park near downtown Spokane opens trails specifically for cross-country skiing when there are at least five inches of snow on the ground.
  
  
• Snowshoeing 
  If you like the thought of skiing but want to do something that is of a slower pace, then you might enjoy snowshoeing. Snowshoes are outdoor footwear made specifically for walking on snow. It makes hiking around local trails easy and enjoyable and gives you the opportunity to take in breathtaking snow-covered views of the local scenery. There are many places for snowshoeing within driving distance of these Spokane homes for sale, including Headlamp Hike near Mt. Spokane and Newman Lake at McKenzie Conservation Area.
  
  
• Snowbiking
  Biking season doesn't have to end just because there is snow on the ground. Fat bikes are off-road bicycles with oversized tires that make them suitable for various types of terrain.   Show your regional pride with clothing and accessories from The Great PNW. Founded right here in Spokane in 2013, the shop exemplifies the creativity of local residents. When graphic artist and PNW native Joel Barbour was frustrated by the lack of region-specific apparel, he decided to design some himself. One of their best-sellers, the Miller tee, bears the saying, "Upper Left, USA." Other products include sweatshirts, hats, drinkware, and stickers.   The slogan of Whiz Kids says it all: "Smart Toys for Smart Kids." This independent, locally-owned shop was recently named "Best Toy Store" by Inlander, the popular urban weekly that covers the region. With more than 6,000 puzzles, games, stuffed animals, science kits, and books from 200 different suppliers, there's something for every interest. Mother-daughter duo Kathleen and Julia Lara recently purchased Whiz Kids from longtime owner Jan St. George, and they plan to continue the store's tradition of carrying unique products. Whiz Kids is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

In addition to premium clothing made with the finest fabrics, locally-owned Anderson & Co. is known for superior customer service. The beverage menu also features a wide variety of Mules, Mojitos, and Margaritas. Food is equally appealing, with a number of small plates and full-size entrees to accommodate any appetite.
